Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve You begin your African safari adventure with a drive from Nairobi and out to the central highlands of Kenya. The journey affords you awe-inspiring views across Mount Kenya as you enter Samburu National Reserve. After lunch has been served you will have your first experience of a game drive. Full Day in Samburu National Reserve Named after the local volcanic peak, Samburu is a diverse habitat with riverine forests, palm groves, and grasslands home to millions of animals. You will head out into the park after breakfast, on the look out for the rare and wonderful animals you’d searched for the previous evening. With four fresh water springs around the park, chances of seeing grazing animals is high, with hippo encounters a distinct possibility. Samburu National Reserve – Olpejeta Conservancy Your morning drive takes you to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a place for the animals of the wild to receive protection from those who would wish to harm them for their horns. Here, you’ll find the largest sanctuary for black rhinos in the world, along with the only home for chimpanzees in Kenya. The sanctuary, ran by the famous Jane Goodall Institute, allows you to come face to face with our closest cousins. Lake Nakuru is famous for it’s Pink Lake, so called due to its massive flocks of flamingo feeding on the algae that gives them their distinct magenta hues.
