## Itinerary

### 1. Mombasa - Masai Mara National Reserve by Plane

Your dedicated Africa FlashMc Tours guide will meet you at your hotel, whether at Diani Beach or in Mombasa. From there, you’ll be accompanied to the appropriate airport for a direct 2-hour flight to an airstrip in the Masai Mara National Reserve. After touching down, you’ll get your first taste of Kenya’s wildlife on a short game drive to your appointed lodgings. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a delicious lunch. After settling into your accommodation, it will be time to head off on your first full game drive. The Masai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s premier wildlife destination. Covering an area of 1,510 sq km (580 sq miles) and rising 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level, it enjoys a pleasant climate year-round, despite close proximity to the equator. Please note that it can get quite cool overnight and in the early mornings, so items of warm clothing are recommended. The reserve is synonymous with fantastic wildlife viewing. Home to the Big 5 and seasonally traversed by the Great Wildebeest Migration, the area is a frequent location for wildlife documentary filmmakers. Returning to your camp at dusk, dinner and a comfortable bed await. Accommodation at your camp or lodge Overnight stay inside Masai Mara Game Reserve Lunch and dinner, not breakfast Drinking water, other drinks are extra

### 2. Full day in Masai Mara National Park

Typically, wildlife is most active in the cooler hours of the day in the early morning and late afternoon (game drives are not permitted at night). As such, you’ll wake early and after breakfast, set off on a full day exploring the reserve. The wildebeest migration normally passes through the reserve between July and October. So, if you’re visiting then, your guide will be sure to share the spectacle with you. That said, the park enjoys excellent game viewing throughout the year. For some, the chance to tick the different members of the Big 5 off their checklist might be the priority. So named by colonial-era hunters, these animals – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and Cape buffalo – were considered the most dangerous to hunt. At lunchtime, you will stop at a scenic spot to stretch your legs and enjoy a tasty picnic. Predator sightings are also wildly popular. The reserve is blessed with a healthy population of lions, spotted hyenas, leopards and cheetahs. If you are really lucky, you may even see a pack of endangered African wild dogs. Naturally, prey species, including giraffe to zebra, wildebeest and warthog, abound. After an exhilarating day, you’ll return to camp for dinner and a well-earned rest. Accommodation at your camp or lodge Overnight stay inside Masai Mara Game Reserve Breakfast, picnic lunch, and dinner Drinking water, other drinks are extra

### 3. Masai Mara National Reserve - Mombasa by Plane

With no game drive scheduled, why not get up before dawn and enjoy the sight of the equatorial sun rising over the surrounding landscape one last time? Frequently, visitors remark on the rich, warm light of Africa. If you’re fortunate, you may see a family of giraffes silhouetted against the dawn sky. Or, just close your eyes and listen to the dawn’s chorus. Some 500 species of birds add their voice, while in the background you might hear (and feel) the deep roar of a lion pride or high-pitched cackling of hyenas. Breathe deeply and savour the rich, earthy aroma of the African soil along with the delicate fragrances of wild flowers. All too soon, it is time to enjoy your final breakfast in the Masai Mara. Then, we’ll transfer you back to the nearest airstrip to catch your direct flight back to your point of origin. As you await your onward connection, it is time to bid farewell to your guide. Having tasted the magical Mara, we hope to share more of Kenya’s mesmerising natural heritage with you in the not-too-distant future. No accommodation, this is the final day Breakfast and lunch, no dinner Drinking water, other drinks are extra

## FAQ’s

### How long is the flight from Mombasa to the Masai Mara?

Flights from Mombasa to the Masai Mara typically take between 1.5 and 2 hours, depending on the route and whether the aircraft makes scheduled stops at other airstrips along the way. Flying allows you to travel directly from the coast to the reserve without losing valuable vacation time to long road transfers.

### Which airport do I fly from in Mombasa?

Your flight will depart from Moi International Airport in Mombasa. Transfers between your hotel or beach resort and the airport are included as part of the safari package.

### Is 3 days enough for a Masai Mara safari?

Yes. A 3-day fly-in safari is an excellent introduction to the Masai Mara. With two nights in the reserve and multiple game drives included, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore the ecosystem and experience some of Africa’s finest wildlife viewing.

### When is the best time of year for a 3-day Masai Mara fly-in safari?

The Masai Mara is a year-round safari destination. July to October is the most popular period thanks to the Great Wildebeest Migration, while January to March is often favored for excellent predator sightings, warm temperatures, and fewer visitors. Wildlife viewing remains incredible throughout the year.

### What is the luggage allowance on the small plane?

Most safari flights allow a maximum baggage allowance of 15kg (33lbs) per person, including hand luggage. Soft-sided bags are required, as they are easier to load into the aircraft than hard-shell suitcases.

### Can children join this safari?

Yes. This safari is suitable for families, and many camps welcome children. The combination of a short flight, comfortable accommodation, and abundant wildlife makes the Masai Mara an exciting destination for younger travelers. Some camps may have age restrictions, so it’s worth confirming at the time of booking.

### Can I see the Big Five in 3 days in the Masai Mara?

While wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, the Masai Mara is one of Africa’s best destinations for Big Five viewing. A three-day safari provides an excellent chance of encountering lion, elephant, buffalo, and leopard, while rhino sightings are possible in certain areas of the reserve and surrounding conservancies.

### What is included in the price?

The safari typically includes return flights between Mombasa and the Masai Mara, airport transfers, accommodation, park fees, scheduled game drives, meals as specified in the itinerary, unlimited drinking water, emergency Flying Doctors cover, and the services of a professional English-speaking safari guide. Any optional activities, premium beverages, personal expenses, and gratuities are usually excluded unless otherwise stated.

### Do I need to arrange my own travel insurance?

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended for all travelers. Your policy should ideally cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, flight delays, lost luggage, and any safari activities included in your itinerary.

### What happens if my Mombasa connection flight is delayed?

If your flight to or from Mombasa is delayed, please notify Flash McTours as soon as possible. Our team will work with the airline, safari flight operators, and accommodation providers to make alternative arrangements where possible. Travel insurance is highly recommended, as delays may sometimes result in additional costs or itinerary changes beyond our control.
