## Itinerary

### 1. Nairobi - Amboseli National Park by Plane

Your personal Africa Flash McTours guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning. Once acquainted, you will be escorted to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport in time for a direct flight to Amboseli National Park. After roughly 40 minutes, you’ll descend alongside Mt Kilimanjaro, touching down at an airstrip within the national park. A vehicle awaits to transport you to your appointed lodgings for the next two nights. There is an excellent chance that you will see wildlife en route to your camp. On arrival, you will be shown your accommodation, after which lunch is served. Amboseli National Park covers 392 square kilometres (151 sq. mi) and forms part of a greater ecosystem that extends across the nearby Kenya-Tanzania border. Boasting some impressive ‘tuskers’ (elephant bulls with unusually large tusks), the park is home to three members of the Big 5, with rhinos absent and leopards only seen on rare occasions. The park has a good population of large predators. Lions and spotted hyenas are frequently seen throughout, while cheetahs are normally seen in the park’s open grasslands. General game species are well represented. Among them, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and warthogs are common, interspersed with various antelope species. You’ll enjoy an afternoon game drive before returning to camp for dinner and a comfortable night’s rest. Accommodation at your camp or lodge. Overnight inside Amboseli National Park Lunch and dinner, but no breakfast Drinking water, all other drinks are extra

### 2. Full day in Amboseli National Park

Generally speaking, wildlife is most active when it is relatively cool. Accordingly, you will wake up at dawn and set off on a full-day game drive after breakfast. Your guide is well-versed in the ways of the African bush. While looking for wildlife, he may stop to point out various plants that are still used in traditional medicine. Or, he might pause to show you how to identify the tracks of various species of game. In the process, you’ll get to appreciate Nature’s complexity and that there is so much more to game viewing than the Big 5. However, for many, the chance to see these species, especially lions, is in high demand. Our guides are in radio contact with other game drives, and information about sightings is shared. As such, should lions or other interesting sightings be reported, they will do their best to let you share the excitement firsthand. At lunchtime, your guide will stop at a scenic picnic spot where you can enjoy some food while stretching your legs. Returning to your vehicle, you might be interested to learn more about the park’s birdlife. For a relatively small park, Amboseli boasts an excellent variety of birds (about 500), each inhabiting their preferred habitats. In particular, the Enkongo Narok Swamp is frequented by impressive flocks of greater and lesser flamingos. As dusk approaches, you’ll return to camp for dinner and bed. Accommodation at your camp or lodge Overnight inside Amboseli National Park Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included Drinking water, all other drinks are extra

### 3. Amboseli National Park - Nairobi by Plane

Rising early once again, breakfast will be served before you depart on the final game drive of your visit. This is a great opportunity to see if you can capture a few iconic images of your stay in Amboseli. Most sought after is a picture of a herd of elephants ambling through the grass with the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Or, keep a lookout for a giraffe browsing from a flat-topped acacia tree, against the warm light of the rising sun. All too soon, your time at Amboseli will come to an end. Invigorated by all you’ve seen, you’ll board your return flight to Nairobi. Once there, it’s time for you to bid farewell to your Africa Flash McTours guide and head on to your next destination. We hope that, having tasted the magic of Africa’s wildlife, scenery and people, it won’t be long before we see you again. No accommodation included Breakfast and lunch, but no dinner Drinking water, other drinks are extra

## FAQ’s

### How long is the flight from Nairobi to Amboseli?

Flights from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Amboseli typically take between 40 and 50 minutes. Flying is the quickest and most convenient way to reach the park.

### Which airstrip do we fly into in Amboseli?

Most scheduled safari flights arrive at Amboseli Airstrip, located within the national park. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your guide or lodge representative and transferred directly to your accommodation or begin your first game drive.

### Is 3 days enough for an Amboseli safari?

Yes. A 3-day safari is ideal for travelers who want to experience Amboseli at a more relaxed pace. With two nights in the park, you’ll have multiple game drives and more opportunities to explore different habitats, enjoy wildlife encounters, and potentially experience Mount Kilimanjaro in varying light and weather conditions.

### When is the best time of year for an Amboseli fly-in safari?

Amboseli has rewarding wildlife viewing throughout the year, but the dry seasons from June to October and January to February are generally considered the best times to visit. During these months, animals gather around water sources, vegetation is less dense, and wildlife is easier to spot.

### Can I see Mount Kilimanjaro from Amboseli?

Yes. Amboseli is famous for its spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Clear views are most common during the early morning and late afternoon before clouds gather around the summit. While visibility can never be guaranteed, Kilimanjaro provides one of the most iconic backdrops in African safari photography.

### What's the luggage allowance on the small plane?

Most safari flights have a baggage allowance of 15kg (33lbs) per person, including hand luggage. Soft-sided bags are required, as they are easier to load into the aircraft than hard-shell suitcases.

### Can children join this safari?

Yes. Amboseli is an excellent destination for families, and the short flight from Nairobi makes it particularly appealing for those traveling with children. Many lodges offer family-friendly accommodation and facilities, making it a comfortable safari experience for all ages.

### Are there rhinos in Amboseli?

No. Amboseli is not known for rhino populations, and rhino sightings are extremely unlikely. The park is instead famous for its large elephant herds, lions, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and rich birdlife. If seeing rhinos is a priority, destinations such as Ol Pejeta Conservancy or Lake Nakuru National Park are better options.

### Can I combine Amboseli with the Masai Mara, Tsavo or the coast?

Absolutely. Amboseli combines exceptionally well with several other destinations in Kenya. Pairing Amboseli with the Masai Mara offers a classic safari combination featuring different landscapes and wildlife experiences. Tsavo East and Tsavo West work particularly well for travelers wanting to explore more of southern Kenya, while combining Amboseli with Mombasa, Diani Beach, Watamu, or Malindi creates a popular bush-and-beach itinerary that showcases the best of Kenya’s wildlife and coastline.
