Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve (320 km – 5 to 6 hours)

On safari, you need to start the day early to make sure that you get the most from your time in Kenya. Therefore, we will collect you at 7.30am from your hotel, residence, or the airport in Nairobi and set off north towards the Central Kenyan Highlands. Your journey will show you farmlands and normal life in the country, with Mount Kenya creeping into view along the way.

You will be taken direct to your chosen accommodation with the national reserve and served lunch. Take time to relax and settle in, explore the place you’re staying and drink in the views that are afforded from every window.

Late afternoon you will head out in your specially adapted safari vehicle, ready to find the animals of the plains. As the sun beings to sink towards the horizon, animals begin to get playful, predators make their play for their prey, and grazers laze about in the cooling air; is there a better first experience of Kenyan safari? After your thrilling introduction to safari you will return to your camp or lodge for dinner and rest. The first day of your African safari includes:

  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Overnight stay inside Samburu National Reserve
  • Lunch and dinner, no breakfast
  • Drinking water, other drinks are extra

Day 2 Full Day in Samburu, Shaba, Buffallo Springs National Reserve

With three national reserves all cluster together, you have plenty of opportunity to find the animals you have travelled so far to see. Once you’ve eaten breakfast, you will head out on a morning game drive that can cover more than one of the reserves.

Samburu is intersected by the Ewaso Ng’iro river and has forested areas, as well as swamps and scrublands. The different ecosystems that the park presents means that you can see not only the big five of African safari, but other creatures such as:

  • Hippos
  • Crocodiles
  • Giraffes
  • Cheetahs
  • Zebras

For lunch, you will return to your camp or lodge and there you will have the early afternoon at your leisure. For a small additional fee, you can take spa treatments at your accommodation, or spend hours sitting on the terraces and watching the day go by. Late afternoon will see you back out into the plains once again, with another sunrise to round off this first full day on safari.

The second day of your Kenyan safari adventure includes:

  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Overnight stay inside Samburu National Reserve
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

For lunch, you will stop at Nyahururu – an old and bustling town, where you will have lunch before heading to Lake Nakuru. Once you’ve dropped off your bags at your camp or lodge, it’s time to head out into this new terrain. There are over four hundred bird species that can be spotted lakeside, among which are the million or more bright pink flamingos that live on the lake.

As the sun sets over the lake, you will return to your accommodation for dinner. After a long day of travelling and learning about new habitats and animals, you can rest up and appreciate the nature that surrounds your camp or lodge. The third day of your Kenyan safari includes:
