## Itinerary

### 1. Zanzibar Airport – Transfer to Beach Resort

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred from the airport to Stone Town, which is the cultural heart of Zanzibar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its well-preserved historical architecture. Zanzibar’s dramatic history includes Arab sultans, Portuguese seafarers, European explorers and the slave trade, all of which left their mark on the capital. You stay at Tembo House Hotel, which offers good amenities such as Wi-Fi and swimming pool, and from here you can discover eclectic shops and markets in the labyrinth of intriguing narrow alleyways, or walk along the atmospheric seafront before dinner. ### 2. Stone Town Walking Tour – Spice Tour – Kendwa

This morning we go on a walking tour of Stone Town, when you can admire the beautiful Arabic architecture, sultans’ palaces and Zanzibar’s famous ornate carved doors. We visit the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum, the Arab Fort, and a mosque, among many other attractions, and you will meet the exceptionally friendly Swahili people as you explore the narrow alleyways and lively squares. After lunch, we will proceed on a tour of the countryside and visit the spice plantations. The Spice Tour is one of the most popular tours in Zanzibar, which historically was one of the world’s leading producers of spices such as clove, nutmeg and cinnamon and is how it earned the nickname of the ‘Spice Island’. You visit an organic farm to touch, smell and taste the spices, and also sample Zanzibar’s exotic fruits, and learn their traditional uses in medicine, cosmetics and cooking. We will then head to our resort at Kendwa Beach on the north coast, a top favourite for its white sand, clear waters, and romantic sunsets and the perfect place to relax. ### 3. Relax at Kendwa Beach

After breakfast enjoy a full day relaxing at Kendwa, which is home to some of Zanzibar’s most attractive beach resorts built in a traditional African-style with makuti thatched roofs. You can do as much or as little as you feel like, and can simply unwind in a Zanzibar hammock on the beach with a good book and a glass of your favourite beverage, or go snorkelling or scuba diving in the crystal-clear turquoise warm sea to see the coral reefs teeming with colourful marine life.You could also perhaps join in an informal beach volleyball match, take a boat ride on a traditional white-sailed dhow with a local fisherman or take a peaceful stroll along the sand to watch the sunset.
