This 4-day Tanzanian safari to Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater National Parks is made for travellers with a passion for wildlife, scenery and birds. This tour allows you to visit three of the most spectacular national parks in the northern circuit.
Tarangire National Park is home to Tanzania’s largest population of elephants, which are drawn to the seasonal waters of the Tarangire River from which the park gets its name.
In addition to these large elephant herds, the park’s distinctive landscape is dotted with beautiful baobab trees and has one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Tanzania.
Lake Manyara National Park is one of only two places in Africa in which to see tree-climbing lions. The abundant game here includes elephants, hippos, flamingoes and Cape buffalo.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to all the Big Five and is one of the best places in the country to see the endangered black rhinoceros. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive caldera that needs to be seen to be believed.

After breakfast, you will be picked up at 07:30 am from the hotel and driven on a tarmac road for 120km to Tarangire National Park (2,850 sq km or 1,005 sq miles). The visit will start with a game drive, followed by a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, there will be more game viewing in the park, which is home to lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, python, zebra, oryx, impala and more. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared Oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed. The swamps, tinged green all year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the highest number of breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world. On drier ground, you will find the Kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird; the stocking-thigh ostrich, the world’s largest bird; and small parties of ground hornbills blustering like turkeys. More ardent bird-lovers might keep an eye open for screeching flocks of the dazzling yellow-collared lovebird, the somewhat drabber rufous-tailed weaver, and the ashy starling – all endemic to the dry savannah.

Other game that you may see includes leopard, cheetah, hyena, other members of the antelope family, and small mammals. There are lots of colourful flamingoes and a variety of water birds.
