For many people, visiting Africa and taking a safari means seeing the “Big 5”. Although not the biggest animals roaming the lands of Africa, they are the most sought-after, famous, and requested animals of visitors to this great land. This tour is designed to take you to the parks with the greatest chances of seeing:
We will take you across a range of landscapes and ecosystems in Kenya, from the riverine wetlands of Samburu to Lake Nakuru – a wildlife haven in the Great African Rift Valley – to the iconic savanna of the Masai Mara. Each landscape offers something different, and your chances of encounters with each of the big five are exceptionally high.
You will be accompanied on your tour by an expert African safari guide who will be dedicated to you and your group only. The tour you take is private and has an element of customization, with additional days in parks of your choice and some flights between locations available. To start your safari adventure, we will come to the airport, or your hotel or residence in Nairobi to collect you and make an early start. Your heading in northwards, skirting around the edge of Mount Kenya, the country’s highest peak, and past some of the most productive farmland in the country.
Upon arrival at Samburu, you will experience a quick game drive through the park as you make your way to the accommodation that you’ve chosen for your stay. Here, you will be served a well-deserved lunch and then be whisked off on your first proper game drive. You’ll range through Samburu; with so many different environments in one park you can be sure each journey will be different to the next.
With plenty of scenery to take in on your way, and then the initial chances to spot the animals that you’ve travelled so far for, it’s time for dinner with nature surrounding you. Whichever camp or lodge that you choose to stay in, there will be a stunning dining room with vistas across the park. The first day of your Kenyan safari includes:

Located inside the Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya, Samburu Sopa lodge is built atop high ground allowing panoramic views of the vastness of Samburu shrub land and the hills beyond.

You will be served breakfast at your camp or lodge and then begin your first complete day out in the plains of Samburu that you began discovering yesterday, and also take a trip to the adjacent Buffalo Springs National Reserve. These parks offer a contrast, with Samburu taking water and growing greenery from the flow of the Ewaso Ng’iro River, whilst Buffalo Springs is dry and arid.

Along with the forested areas of Samburu, you will traverse the ancient lava flows and striking geology of Buffalo Springs. Your guide will know which times are best to experience each park, and there will be stop for lunch back at your accommodation to make sure you have the energy for an afternoon out in the plains.
After a long day spent watching the glorious animals of Samburu and Buffalo Springs, it’s time to return to your home for the night, eat dinner, and rest up. This day of your Kenyan safari includes:

After breakfast, your will travel in your safari vehicle south and west towards Lake Nakuru. A stop will be made on the way, giving you a chance to experience the 74-metre cascade of Nyahururu waterfall.
The brief interlude will be followed by the final leg of the journey to Lake Nakuru, where you will be served lunch at your accommodation. The body of water is one of the alkaline lakes of the Great African Rift Valley and teeming with life. Here, you can spot over 400 species of bird, both migratory and native. And so many more, of which your guide will be on hand to able assist you identify. There are also plenty of rhinos in the area, giving you ample opportunity to see one of the more elusive of the big five.

The Lake Nakuru Lodge is situated in the South Eastern, ecological niche of the Lake Nakuru National Park. It is an oasis of comfort and excellent service with commanding views of the lesser Flamingo interspersed with the Greater Flamingo for which the Lake Nakuru is world famous.
The Flamingo Hill Camp is situated within the famous Lake Nakuru National Park, which lies within the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. Approximately 30 minutes by air or 2 hours by road from Nairobi.
Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is nestled along the Lion Hill overlooking the spectacular flamingo pink rimmed Lake Nakuru. Its location affords panoramic views of the lake and the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park.

Lake Nakuru is also famed for its large flamingo population, and after breakfast you will have a final chance to see them as they dance and display whilst turning the surface of the lake seemingly pink with their vibrant hues. Upon leaving the national park, your journey will take you all the way to the southern edge of Kenya and into the Masai Mara.
The lands you cross are fertile and productive; filled with farmland and scenes of countryside life in Kenya unfold before you. Once inside Masai Mara National Reserve, you will head to your camp or lodge to have lunch and take a moment to catch your breath after a long drive.
With the intense travel, you will be given the afternoon as your own.
You can choose to relax in the comfort of your room, spend time in the common areas and terraces of your accommodation, or avail yourself of extra facilities such as massages and spa treatments, which may come at an extra cost. Dinner is the last scheduled item for the day, after which you can get an early night and ready yourself for the wonders of the Masai Mara come morning.

All of the big five of African safari can be found here, and your guide will do their best to locate them, including using the vehicle two-way radio to contact other guides and rangers in the area to confirm sightings.
Lunch is taken back at your accommodation and from here you will again go on a game drive. This time yours is the opportunity to watch the sun hit the horizon and illuminate the sky myriad colours. The winding down of the day across the grasses is an extraordinary time, with restless adults and playful babies of all species ending another day.
Your turn to take a rest comes after your dinner, knowing that there is another day within the sanctuary of the Masai Mara coming tomorrow. On the fifth day of your safari in Kenya you have included:
The penultimate day of your special safari experience will be spent once again ranging through the park, once you’ve had breakfast. By this time, you’ve hopefully had sightings of all of the animals you travelled to Kenya to see, and this will just be a bonus day for you to take even more photos and make even more memories. If there’s not been chance to see any animal, your expert guide will do all they can to show you the creatures you desire.
The afternoon gives you a chance to visit a village of the people who have made this land home for millennia, once you’ve had dinner of course. The Masai people have lived here since time immemorial and have a rich cultural tradition that you’re invited to share in. for a nominal fee of $20. You will be welcomed with singing and dancing, as is the tradition, before being guided around the village and allowed to visit inside of the homes.
After an enthralling and educational afternoon, it’s time to bring your final full day on African safari to a close. You will be served dinner and then have time to rest and recuperate before the long journey ahead the next day. The penultimate day of your Kenyan safari includes:

You’ll make an early start to get breakfast and head out of the Masai Mara and track up towards Nairobi. As you exit the park, there will be one last chance to take in the scenery and hopefully get some final photos of the animals that you’ve spent so much time with over the last week.
Arrival in Nairobi will be timed to coincide with lunch. We will take you to one of the most famous restaurants in the city, Carnivore, where you can feast on exotic animals served in traditional ways. From this point you can request that we transfer you directly to the airport, or take you to a hotel or residence, depending on your onwards plans.
