Masai Village

Visit Masai village to meet the welcoming traditions of Masai people.

As exciting as it can be to explore a new park every day, see fresh landscapes, and stay in a new park every night, sometimes there can be great value in taking a little more time over things. This eight-day safari touches on just four parks, giving you more chance to experience the lesser discovered areas.

You will range across a diverse mix of parks, from privately owned to those within the Kenyan government system, from mountain plateaux to lakes in the Great African Rift Valley. During this safari you will visit:

And be presented with opportunities to see the big five of African safari, along with the only Chimpanzees in Africa and breath-taking displays of flamingos.

With your expert Kenyan safari guide, you and your party will move across the beautiful nation in your dedicated safari vehicle; there will be no other guests to share your experience. You can request to take this safari in the opposite direction, and domestic flights between parks are possible, at additional cost, to reduce your travelling time.

Itinerary

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

(265 km – 5 to 6 hours)

Rise early to be met by your safari guide at 7.30am. We’ll collect you from your hotel, residence, or from the international airport and get moving straight out into the wilds as we take your straight to the Masai Mara. The Westward journey will take you through the countryside of Kenya and give you chance to take in views of local farms and villages that dot the highways.

Arrival will coincide with your lunch that will be waiting at the camp or lodge of your choice. Take some time to get comfortable before heading out on the first on many game drives you will experience on your African safari. The big five of African safari are all here, along with some wonderful animals you may not be familiar with, like:

  • Thomson’s gazelles
  • Topi
  • Bat-eared foxes
  • Elands
  • Duikers

But you’re sure to learn about them and hopefully fall in love with them just the same.

Safaris can be tiring, so after your first day out exploring the plains of the Masai Mara, head back to your accommodation for dinner and a restful sleep. Included in the first day of your Kenyan safari is:

  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Overnight stay inside Masai Mara National Reserve
  • Lunch and dinner, no breakfast
  • Drinking water, other drinks are extra

Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve

The preceding afternoon’s dip into the Masai Mara was nothing compared to your full day out in the park. Heading into the depths of the grasslands will give you more chance to spot some of the rarer sights of the savanna, and being out and driving all day affords you that opportunity.

After breakfast, your guide will take you out into the park in search of the big five of African safari as well as your favourite animals; tell them what you’re looking for and they will use their expertise to try and fulfil your desires. Lunch will be served picnic style right in the heart of the park and surrounded by the beauty that no doubt drew you to come on safari in the first place.

The afternoon gives you a wonderful chance to learn about the humans who inhabit this landscape alongside the stunning animals. The Masai people have grazed their cattle on these lands since time immemorial and you are invited to one of their villages where you will be greeted by a song and dance that is part of their traditions. Once welcomed, you have the chance to look around the village and learn about their culture and even get to see inside one of their homes. This special and optional experience has an extra fee of $20 per person to participate.

Evening will be spent at your camp of lodge with dinner and plenty of time to unwind and relax. The second day of your Kenyan safari includes:

  • Accommodation at your camp or lodge
  • Overnight stay inside Masai Mara National Reserve
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Drinking water, other drinks are extra

Masai Mara National Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park

(300 km, 5 – 6 hours)

To say goodbye to the Masai Mara you will have one last game drive after your breakfast, as you depart from the plains. The morning is a spectacular time to drive through the park with the light of a new day spilling over the land and the animals beginning their new day.

Your journey to Lake Nakuru will take you into the volcanic ranges of the Great African Rift Valley, of which the lake is one of a series formed through geological activity. You will be served lunch picnic-style during your journey and arrive at the park and your chosen accommodation in the late afternoon.

Take time to relax and drink in the atmosphere at your lakeside camp or lodge and listen to the songs and calls of the more than 450 bird species that live around the lake. Here is an ornithologist’s dream and even amateurs will appreciate the abundance of birds around the shores of the lake. Dinner is served at your accommodation and then you can rest up to prepare for another day of adventure.
