Lake Mburo National Park is one of the smaller National Parks in Uganda, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in wildlife and stunning scenery. It also happens to be one of the most accessible of Uganda’s National Parks, located as it is not far from the main highway that connects Kampala to southwestern Uganda.
The park is home to more than 300 kinds of birds as well as African buffalo, elands, leopards, hippos, zebras, impalas, oribi, bushpigs, hyenas and many more species. Because of the park’s compact nature (260 sq km), you won’t have to drive for hours to find them either, and as you’re being driven by our expert guide you can enjoy the biodiversity that gathers around the immense wetland system that winds its way through the park.
Lake Mburo National Park experiences a mild climate. Daily temperatures are around 27°C/81°F, with nightly temperatures of 14°C/57°F on average. Rain occurs throughout the year – although June and July get the least amount of rain. December through February also tends to be a period of lesser rainfall.

Things to do in Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park had something of a troubled birth, but in the past 30 years, it has settled down and become one of the true compact treasures of East Africa. Here are just some of the things you can do and see in Lake Mburo National Park.
Go on a boat safari: When you visit Lake Mburo with Africa Flash we’ll take you on one of the most unique and compelling boat rides you have ever been on. You’ll drift by hippos and African crocodiles while herds of buffalo meander through the marshes. In the trees at the lakeside, you’ll see baboons and vervet monkeys. Bird watching on the lake is also first-rate with shoebill storks, crested cranes and Abyssinian ground hornbills all making an appearance.
Go on a game drive: The diversity of wildlife in the park is remarkable and you will get up close and personal with it on a game drive. You’ll wind your way through herds of zebras, waterbucks, impalas and other species and watch hyenas and leopards hunting on the savannah.
A non-traditional tour: Many people who visit Lake Mburo enjoy taking a non-traditional tour of the park on horseback or bicycle. This type of park tour is not for everyone. But if you’re the adventurous type and you’re in good physical shape it can provide indelible memories that last a lifetime.
