This morning we depart Nairobi after breakfast and proceed north through the lush and coffee plantations and on to Olpejeta Conservancy arriving at Serena Sweetwaters Camp for lunch. After a brief rest you will have a guided bush walk and bird watching. You will get to spot various birds species including Stout Cisticola, Black Kite, Augur Buzzard, Cape Robin Chat Hawk etc. The conservancy also supports various animals such as elephants, giraffes, rhinoceros, chimpanzee etc. In the evening return to the camp for rest, dinner and overnight.

As you transits from Ol Pejeta Conservancy you shall be welcomed by the beam of rising sun from the peak of Mount Kenya, the temperatures gradually lowers from warm to much cooler.
On arrival in Meru National Park, you shall check in and kick off the day’s game drive. You might spot wild animals such as Africa bush Elephant, lion, white rhino, hippos, Grevy zebra, wild pig, waterbucks, Dikdik among others. Bird species likely to be spotted include; Falcon, sunbird, rollers, kingfisher, starlings, weavers among others.

Expect to see Baboons, Hyena, Jackal, Kudu, Lion, Mongoose, Oryx, Oribi, Vervet Monkeys and Warthog. You may see Wild dog, Bush baby, Caracal, Cheetah, Civet, Dik-dik, Leopard, Otter, Bush pig, Porcupine, Black and White Rhino. The rivers abound with Hippo and Crocodile. Birdlife includes Peter’s fin foot which inhabits the Murera and Ura Rivers, the Pel’s Fishing Owl, Kingfishers, Rollers, Bee-eaters, Starlings and numerous Weavers.

After breakfast, you will be transfered to Samburu National Reserve by road, located in the north east of Laikipia and is the home some of the rarest flora and fauna. More common mammals are grant’s gazelles, impalas, waterbucks, dikdiks, olive baboons, elephants, warthogs, hippos and many others. These prey animals support an active population of carnivores, including lions, cheetahs, crocodiles, leopards, to name a few, and you may even sight the powerful African wild dogs that have been recorded in the reserve. During your stay in Samburu your Samburu guide will help you identify diverse sunbirds, bee-eaters, kingfishers, woodpeckers, hornbills and many other avi-fauna including birds of prey like palm-nut vulture, Verreaux’s eagle-owl, Egyptian vulture, lappet-faced vulture etc. Imagine the excitement of sighting a vulnerable species, such as great egrets, African darters, white-headed vultures, yellow-billed ox-peckers and martial eagle.

Depart for an early morning game drive at the park in search of the Large predators such as the Lion, Leopard and Cheetah and the Samburu Special five that is Gravy’s zebra, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Somali Ostrich and Reticulated giraffe. This species is rare and can only be found in the north.
At 0800 hrs, return to the camp/ lodge for a full buffet breakfast.
At 1600 hrs, leave for an evening game drive in the park and explore the park. Wild dogs can also be sighted in the park. Later return to the park for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, we shall proceed for a morning game drive, and depart to lake Baringo fresh water lake bird to spot here are northern white faced owl, slender tailed nightjar, jackson’s and hemprich’snornbills, brown tailed chat, brown tailed chat, beautiful sunbird, golden backed and little weavers, northern red bishop verreaux’s eagle, mousebird, madagascar bee-eater, cardinal quelea and pygmy batis overnight at your camp or lodge.
