Chimpanzee trekking is the primary reason most travelers visit Mahale Mountains National Park. The dry season from June to October has the most reliable conditions, with chimpanzees often remaining at lower elevations where they are easier to locate. Trails are drier, trekking is more comfortable, and visibility within the forest improves significantly.
Lake Tanganyika is at its most inviting during the dry months from June to October and again between January and February. Calm waters, warm temperatures, and excellent visibility create ideal conditions for kayaking, swimming, fishing, and lakeside relaxation.
