Lion, Elephants, Cheetahs
The Mara Naboisho Conservancy offers an alternative for those who wish to avoid the crowds typical of some other parks in East Africa. The Conservancy consists of about 80 square miles (just over 200 sq km) of pristine territory that occupies much of the eastern end of the renowned Masai Mara.
What makes Mara Naboisho different from other parks is that it strictly limits the number of tourists that can enter the park at a given time and has only a handful of campsites. This way you get to experience the best of African wildlife in a manner that allows for proper appreciation.
Things to do in Mara Naboisho Conservancy
Mara Naboisho Conservancy is an ideal location for safari-goers who want to get off the beaten path and experience the true African wilderness.
The conservancy is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, and many more.
Visitors can take part in a variety of activities, such as game drives, bush walks, and night safaris. There are also several lodges and campsites located within the conservancy, providing travellers with a range of accommodation options.
Whether you’re looking for an adrenaline-filled adventure or a relaxing retreat, Mara Naboisho Conservancy is sure to have something for you.
Due to the altitude, the climate in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy is slightly colder and wetter than might be expected this close to the equator. Daytime is pleasant with temperatures in the mid to upper twenties, while it cools off significantly at night.

Where the Big Cats Live
It is estimated that there are as many as 100 lions living within the bounds of the Conservancy. That is one of the highest concentrations of big cats in Africa. Not only that, but the wide-open nature of the landscape means you don’t need to be right on top of these magnificent animals to see them.
In addition to its lion population, the Conservancy is also home to leopards and cheetahs which raises the question: why so many big cats in this particular area? There are 2 reasons actually. The first has to do with that wide-open landscape. The same thing that makes it easy for you to spot a lion makes it easy for lions, cheetahs and leopards to spot and pursue their prey. The second reason there are so many big cats is because there are so many other types of wildlife here, including big cat favourites wildebeest and zebra.
The Mara Naboisho Conservancy is also home to giraffes, elephants, hippos, African buffalos, warthogs, wild dogs, topis, Thomson’s gazelles and scores of bird species. During the late spring and again in the late fall countless animals engage in a migration between the Masai Mara National Reserve in the west to the Loita Plains in the east. Though not part of the so-called “great migration” it is nonetheless a sight to behold and one you will never forget.
