Entering the Masai Mara, you are on the lands of the iconic Masai people, whose villages you’re your journey to your accommodation. After some time to settle into your rooms, your first game drive begins. Be on the look out for the wildlife you’ve been waiting for: giraffes, lions, rhinos, and so many more creatures of the grasslands will be roaming across the landscape.

The evening sees dinner served in your accommodation, when you can prepare for the big day of exploration in the morning. This first day of your Kenyan safari includes:

  • Accommodation at your tented camp or lodge
  • Overnight stay inside Masai Mara Game Reserve
  • Lunch and dinner, no breakfast

Acacia trees stud the landscape, animals range through your field of vision, birds flock overhead.  Your expert African safari guide will be on hand to track the wildlife and help you identify and understand the creatures of the Serengeti.

This day will present you with a chance given to few – the option of a hot-air balloon safari. Change your perspective of the savanna and trace the movements of the fauna from the air, catching their shadows and contemplating their routes from above.

A visit to a Masai village can also be arranged; a chance to understand the culture of the nomadic warriors of the Great African Rift Valley. A welcoming song and dance is followed by a chance to explore the village, learn something of the way of life of the Masai, and visit a family home. Each of these activities are optional and have extra costs, $425 per person for the balloon safari, and $20 per person to visit the village.

Included in this day of your African safari is:

  • Accommodation at your tented camp or lodge
  • Overnight stay inside Masai Mara Game Reserve
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Drinking water, other drinks are extra

Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch and then partake in an afternoon of brid watching. As well as flocks of bright pink flamingos, there are myriad bird species for you to marvel at. There’s also a rhino sanctuary within the park and you can choose to visit to see these most endangered of animals.
