This short tour around the lower levels of Mount Kenya offers two different pick-up locations; make an early start from Nairobi with a pick up from your hotel, residence, or the airport, or start a little later if you’ve chosen to stay in the area of Nanyuki. Wherever you starting point is, your trekking experience of the second tallest mountain in Kenya will be the same.
With a day to discover as much as possible, you will trek up the mountain 9km. At this elevation, you will be in the forested inclines of the mountain and will also hike through the bamboo jungle. The cooler climate and abundant water on the old volcano mean the vegetation is lush, and there are plenty of mammals and birds for your expert guide to help you spot.
After walking up and around 9km, you are given a picnic lunch and from here you will ascend back to your waiting tour vehicle. Although heading in the same general direction that you came from, rest assured there will still be plenty of different wildlife to see. Here is a place to soak up the peaceful atmosphere, breathe in the fresh air, and appreciate the wonderful nature all around.
After you arrive back at your starting point, we will take you in our safari vehicle and transfer you back to your desired location – either back to your hotel, residence or the airport in Nairobi, or to a hotel you have organised in the town of Nanyuki.
