Jambo! Welcome to Kenya. This one-day itinerary is tailored especially for those who are staying at Diani Beach or any of Kenya’s beautiful coastal resorts. While they all have a lot to offer, the one thing they don’t have is the wildlife for which the country enjoys such a fantastic reputation. To fill the gap, we offer a full-day excursion from these resorts to the nearby Shimba Hills National Reserve. In less than an hour, you’ll be exploring East Africa’s largest coastal rainforests and viewing a wide range of species, including 4 of the Big 5 and rare sable antelopes.
From start to finish, you’ll enjoy the services and companionship of a dedicated Africa Flash McTours guide, whose knowledge and expertise will lift the experience beyond expectations. In their care, you’ll be transported by road in absolute comfort. All of our safari activities are conducted in custom-built safari vehicles, equipped with your safety, comfort and convenience in mind.
You have an opportunity to watch unique birds here.
Walking Safari gives you the opportunity to move at the pace of nature.

Set your alarm for an early wake-up before enjoying breakfast. At 07h00, an African Flash McTours guide will meet you at your resort. You will then board our vehicle for the hour-long drive through beautiful scenery to Shimba Hills National Reserve.
The reserve covers 300 km² (about 120 mi²), offering a lush blend of coastal rainforest, woodlands and savannah. The terrains undulates from hills to valleys, with a dramatic escarpment offering sweeping views of the coastal plain. The park boasts an amazing biodiversity for its size, providing refuge for numerous rare species, as well as occasional sightings of 4 members of the Big 5 (elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard).
Birdwatchers will be thrilled to spot some of the 300 species recorded here, including coastal endemics such as Fischer’s turaco, green-headed oriole and Uluguru violet-backed sunbird.
On arrival at the reserve, your visit starts with a morning game drive. We’ll be on the lookout for the park’s wildlife, including buffalo, bushbuck, warthog, yellow baboon and Angola colobus. If time permits, we’ll take a short hike to view the beautiful Sheldrick Falls.
In the late morning, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing the game drive. Keep a lookout for the rare sable antelope and an even rarer East African subspecies, the Roosevelt’s sable.
In the mid to late afternoon, we’ll leave the reserve and transport you back to your beach lodge, in time for sundowner drinks and a delicious meal. At this time, we’ll say our goodbyes, extending an invitation to join Africa Flash McTours on your next African adventure.
