Governors’ Mugie House

On a hillside within the 50,000-acre Mugie Conservancy, Governors’ Mugie House is a quieter perspective on northern Kenya’s safari landscapes. From its elevated setting, the lodge looks across acacia-dotted plains, a busy wildlife waterhole, and towards the distant outline of Mount Kenya. This corner of Laikipia is known for its remarkable diversity of endangered northern species, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Jackson’s hartebeest, and African wild dog, while the conservancy itself has become an important model for balancing wildlife conservation with community livelihoods.

The lodge feels more like a private country retreat than a traditional safari camp. The main house combines comfortable lounges, open log fires, and a welcoming dining room, while an infinity pool and spa provide quiet places to unwind between safari activities.
