The dry seasons from June to September and December to February are the best times for classic game drives in Murchison Falls. Wildlife gathers along the Nile and permanent water sources, vegetation is lower, and visibility across the savannah is excellent.
Boat safaris are superb year-round, but December to February and June to September offer the calmest conditions and the highest concentration of wildlife along the riverbanks, including elephants, buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles.
Birding peaks during the green seasons from October to April, when migratory species arrive and wetlands are at their most active. Shoebill sightings are possible year-round, particularly near the Nile Delta.
For classic safari photography with clear light and dramatic contrast, June to September is ideal. For richer greens, cloud-filled skies, and atmospheric river scenes, October – November and March – May are especially rewarding.
