Walking Safari

Walking Safari gives you the opportunity to move at the pace of nature.

Aberdares National Park is home to iconic accommodation that allows you stunning views of the animals of the park. Your accommodation will be nestled within the treetops of the park, overlooking a watering hole with salt licks that bring the stunning beasts of the savanna to your balcony.

Here, you can see such animals as

  • Elephants
  • Rhinos
  • Lions
  • Leopards

And if you’re lucky, the rare bongo antelope. The viewing decks of the hotel look out over the floodlit plains, meaning you have the opportunity to watch the animals past dusk – a treat many safaris aren’t able to offer.

This adventure makes a perfect addition to other packages. With a start and end in Nairobi, it is compatible with a range of other tours that you can add at either the beginning or end of your Kenyan safari trip.

Aberdares is located in the highlands of Kenya and the climate can get chilly, we recommend you pack warm clothes so that you can spend a long evening spotting wildlife out on the decks. Day 1 Nairobi to Aberdares National Park (170 km – 3 hours)

Departing early from Nairobi, we will pick you up from your hotel, residence, or the airport depending on your needs. Your journey will take you through the coffee and tea plantations of the Kenyan Highlands, showing you a side of Kenya that is less known yet no less beautiful.

Upon arrival at your accommodation at Treetops Lodge, you will be served lunch and immediately given the opportunity to start viewing the animals from the decks. The fresh perspective that your platform above the watering hole gives means you can get a fuller picture of life on the plains.

Your dinner will also be served at Treetops Lodge and you are able to spend time well into the evening watching nature unfold below. The area including the salt licks are floodlit, meaning you can see the nocturnal activity that is little-accessible in most national parks. This night on African safari includes:

  • Overnight in Aberdares National Park
  • Accommodation at The Ark lodge
  • Lunch and dinner included
  • Drinking water is provided. All other drinks are extra.

Day 2 Aberdares National Park to Nairobi (170 km – 3 hours)

Wake up early to watch the dawn over the park from your majestic vantage point in the trees. The dawn chorus in the wilderness of the African plains is an experience to behold. Animals begin to stir for the day, making mating calls and finding their packs, defining their territory and stretching their lungs.

After a wonderful morning witnessing day break from your balcony, you will be given breakfast at your accommodation and then driven back to Nairobi. Lunch will be a stop during the journey that will once again see you pass through the refreshing plantation landscape of the north of Kenya.

When you arrive back in Nairobi you can request a drop off at either your hotel, residence, or at the airport, depending on your onward plans. The final day of your Kenyan safari experience includes:

  • No accommodation, this is the final day
  • Breakfast and lunch, no dinner
  • Drinking water, other drinks are extra
