Ol Pejeta Conservancy brings reliable big cat sightings throughout the year, supported by healthy prey populations and expansive open landscapes. The long dry season (June – September) is prime time, with low grass and excellent visibility for lions and cheetahs. The short dry season (December – February) is equally rewarding, with warm conditions and frequent daytime activity across the plains.
Ol Pejeta is one of the best places in Kenya to see rhinos at close range. During the dry seasons, black and white rhinos, elephants, and buffalo gather near water sources, making sightings especially consistent. Even during wetter months, Ol Pejeta’s permanent water and open terrain ensure dependable game viewing year-round.
Birdwatching in Ol Pejeta Conservancy is at its best from November to April, when migratory species arrive and breeding activity peaks. Riverine areas and wooded sections attract kingfishers, bee-eaters, hornbills, and fish eagles, while the dry season remains excellent for spotting raptors soaring above the plains.
From June to September, Ol Pejeta delivers crisp light, dusty tracks, and dramatic wildlife contrast ideal for classic safari photography. Between November and April, the conservancy turns lush and green, with dramatic skies, softer light, and fewer vehicles, perfect for atmospheric and conservation-focused imagery.
