At Africa FlashMC Tours we provide Aberdare Tours that celebrate the splendours of the Aberdare National Park and beyond. Nestled into the Aberdare Mountains of Kenya just 100 km north of the capital Nairobi, the park is a protected area on the eastern boundary of the Great Rift Valley and covers 766 square km (295 square mi) of land ranging in altitude from 2,000 to about 4,000 meters (6,600 – 13,000 feet).
The park is crisscrossed by deep valleys and plays host to more than 250 species of birds. There is also abundant wildlife in the form of lions, elephants, waterbucks, cape buffalos, baboons, various types of monkeys, giant forest hogs and more. Perhaps most exciting is the presence of the critically endangered eastern black rhinoceros.
The climate in Aberdare NP is usually cool and misty. Heavy rain occurs year-round, averaging as much as 3,000mm per annum in the southeast areas. Being close to the equator, temperatures are quite uniform throughout the year. Warm and waterproof clothing is essential.
