Within the private Kitirua Conservancy on the southeastern edge of Amboseli, Kitirua Plains Lodge is a quieter alternative to the national park while retaining the same incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro that have made this corner of Kenya famous. The conservancy spans more than 30,000 acres of protected wilderness and forms an important wildlife corridor between Amboseli and Tanzania. With far fewer vehicles than the national park and exclusive access to private land, the lodge delivers a more flexible safari experience, where game drives often happen without another vehicle in sight.
The lodge features a collection of contemporary canvas suites positioned to maximize views across the plains toward Africa’s highest mountain. Interiors are understated and comfortable, with natural materials, warm earth tones, and floor-to-ceiling openings that keep the surrounding landscape front and center.
